Pasqualotto Chiara

 

 

She was born in 1976 in Padua, where she got a Master Degree in History and Critic of Cinema with prof. Giorgio Tinazzi, in 2000.
In 2001 she obtained a Master Degree in Teaching Italian as a second language at the University of Padua; then she taught Italian at the University of Ann Arbor (Michigan, USA) and at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Prague. In 2007, she attended figure courses at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design of Prague.
One of her main activities is illustration: from 2003 to 2015 she attended illustration courses for children held by Arcadio Lobato, Svetlan Junaković, Maurizio Quarello, Carll Cneut at the International School of Illustration of Sàrmede (Treviso) and Ars in Fabula of Macerata.
Since 2008 she collaborated with children’s book publishing houses from Italy (Giunti, Terranuova) and from other countries (Boxer Books, Oxford University Press, Paraclete, Tyndale, Learning AZ, Kar-Ben Publishing) for illustration projects; and from 2015 to 2018 she worked for the New York agent Astound as an illustrator.
Since 2013 she has been teaching illustration and drawing to children: both in Summer courses at Scuola Internazionale di Comics in Padua and in workshops organized by bookshops and libraries in Padua and Rome.
 
She has recently discovered intaglio: from 2016 to 2018 she attended the engraving courses held by Maria Pina Bentivenga and Elisabetta Diamanti at the Scuola di Arti e Mestieri di San Giacomo (Arts and Crafts School) in Rome, her interest soon focused on etching and artists books.
In 2018 she entered the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma where she attended the Art Graphics courses (intaglio, woodcut and letterpress) and she took part to different workshops: cyanotype, monotype and silk-screen printing (Else edizioni), letterpress (Betterpress lab with Alessandro Corubolo).
As an Academy student she obtained scholarships for assistant collaboration in Intaglio and Woodcut courses and for Eu4 Art European Project.
In Summer 2019 she took part in a burin-on-copper course held by Koichi Yamamoto at the Opificio della Rosa in Montefiore Conca (Rimini), where she also spent two weeks of artist residency working in the printmaking studio.
In July 2021 she got a Master Degree in Art Graphics at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma with Professors Tania Campisi and Maria Pina Bentivenga with a thesis work entitled Into the forest, an immersive installation with eleven etched trees, spotted lights and music.
Since December 2021 she has been working as a laboratory technician at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma in the Art Graphics courses: Experimental Intaglio Techniques, Printmaking, Silkscreen and Letterpress.
In January 2021 she joined the Associazione Nazionale Incisori Contemporanei.
