Fulvio Ioan is a painter, graphic artist and performer.
Born in Imperia the sixth January 1987, he received his artistic and vocational education
between Imperia and Genoa.
After the high school diploma, as chemical expert, h e c o n c l u d e d h i s s t u d i e s a t t h e ‘’ Ligusica
Academy of Fine Arts’’ , following a painting class and getting as final vote 110 110 and laude.
From 2009 to 2012 he has been a student and an assistant for Ligustro, the renowned artist
and master (www.l i g u s t r o . i t ) .
Since 2009 he’s also a member of the Ligurian Engravers Association. He took part in competit
i o n s , s e l e c t i o n s , and national and international exhibitions, gaining significant mentions and
publications. Part of its production is now appreciated in national and international private
c o l l e c t i o n s .
The artistic research of Fulvio Ioan focuses on graphic language’s development in a narrative
and expressionist direction. It is inspired by medieval images and themes from art history, looking
for vitality and empathy in lines and colors, a s s e m b l i n g f i g u r e s l i k e p i e c e s o f a p u z z l e .
The art, connected with the grotesque’s irony in a game, is defined as a form of rebirth from
the (social and cultural) darkness. I t ’ s a p r o c e s s t h a t w a n t s t o r e a f f i r m b e a u t y .
The laying foundation is the need to bring back the art-making process to crafts.
I t ’s a demonstration that graphic techniques have a central role in the contemporary artistic
research, as long as they can be important means, elegant and refined, f o r t h e d i f f u s i o n o f t h e
artist’s ideas and images.
